Meet Your 2023-2024 GHE Volunteer Board.....

Patrice Bryant serves as President. She and her husband Kelvin are entering their 23rd year of homeschooling. Patrice and Kelvin have been married 35 years and have three sons ages 25, 26, and 27 and one almost 15 year old daughter (aka "The Princess"). The Bryants are members of Elim Christian Fellowship. Their family is also involved with homeschool athletics in Greensboro.

Amanda Wares serves as Vice-President. She is married to Michael, and has 4 children: Susannah, Killian, Katrielle, and Deacon. This is their 19th year homeschooling, and her 17th year on the GHE board. The Wares family is involved in an organic fellowship (house church) called Grace Family Church. In addition to her roles as wife and stay-at-home mom/teacher, Amanda also serves on the NCHE board as Homeschool Helps Director.  In all her spare time, she loves to read, write, plan field trips, and encourage new homeschoolers!

David Armitage serves as Treasurer. He is married to Shelley and has 3 sons. This is their 8th year of homeschooling. The Armitage’s oldest two sons, Silas and Jonah are attending Grove City College in PA. Eli is now in 10th grade. David works part-time as Controller for the Greensboro Symphony. Shelley is a former Spanish teacher. The Armitages enjoy family, travel, Boy Scouts and music and are active members of Lake Brandt Reformed Church.

Alev Nobles serves as the Board Secretary. Alev and her husband Zack have been married for over 20 years and have lived in Greensboro since 2004. This year marks their twelfth year homeschooling their two sons. The Nobles family attends Westover Church, where Zack and Alev volunteer in children’s ministry. Alev enjoys spending time outside, traveling, and buying too many books.

Rebekah Johnson is one of the Activities Coordinators.  Rebekah and her husband have two boys and are beginning their 12th year of homeschooling.  The Johnson family is active in their local church in a variety of ministries.  Rebekah is head coach of the Greensboro Gladiators Middle & High School Cross Country Team and Track & Field Team.  She enjoys fitness, being outdoors, and coffee....lots and lots of coffee!

Celia Cepeda is one of the Activities Coordinators. Celia has been married to Michael Raizen, an ARMY veteran, for 24 years. They have lived in Greensboro since 2006 and have homeschooled their three children, Angelique 20, Paloma 17, and Elijah 13, since 2009. They attend Piedmont Chapel where they volunteer in the children's ministry. Celia loves helping the community as she works with World Relief as an interpreter. She also helps with her family's vision of fostering dogs through Guilford County Animal Services to find fur-ever homes to as many dogs as possible. She even has her own business making dog accessories.
